Locomotives in action at Leamington Spa 2001 - Railway DVD

Leamington Spa is a busy junction station located on the main line from Birmingham to Oxford. Once a locomotive hot-spot, the early 2000's saw dramatic change with the withdrawal of cross-country locomotive hauled services, and the continued reduction of coal and other freight traffic.
Filmed over several visits during 2001, this DVD focuses on the varied locomotive scene, which still featured class 37, 43, 47, 57, 58 & 60, as well as the recently introduced Class 66 which had already begun displacing older traction.
Container traffic has been a feature of freight through the station for decades, and in 2001 these could still be found with a pair of Railfreight Class 47's in charge. Back-to-back MGR coal, Serco test trains, steel, car transporters, engineers, parcels, oil tankers, self-discharge train and passenger workings feature throughout.
